From a notebook to a model in production

Most ML value is lost between the experiment and the product.

The reality

Six reasons ML projects do not survive production

Most are engineering problems, not modelling problems.

01

It works only in a notebook

The model runs on one person's machine and cannot be deployed.

What we doMove the code into versioned pipelines that anyone on the team can run.
02

Results cannot be reproduced

Nobody remembers which data or settings produced the good model.

What we doTrack experiments, datasets and models, so every result can be rebuilt.
03

Manual deployments

Releasing a model means copying files and hoping.

What we doPackage, test and deploy models through a pipeline, with rollback.
04

Nobody watches drift

Real-world data changes and accuracy falls without anyone noticing.

What we doMonitor inputs and outputs, and alert when they move.
05

Retraining is a project

Refreshing a model takes weeks of manual work.

What we doAutomate retraining on a schedule or a trigger, with checks before release.
06

GPU costs run away

Expensive hardware sits idle or is oversized.

What we doRight-size, schedule and share capacity, with budgets and alerts.
A model release, step by step

How a model reaches production

Every model follows the same path, and each step has a check. If a check fails, the release stops.

  1. DataVersioned and validated
  2. TrainRepeatable pipeline
  3. EvaluateAgainst agreed metrics
  4. PackageVersioned model image
  5. DeployStaged rollout, rollback ready
  6. MonitorDrift and quality alerts
What you gain

What changes once ML is operated properly

MLOps is less visible than modelling, and it decides whether the model delivers value.

Faster path to production

Models reach users in days, not months.

Reproducible results

Any model can be rebuilt from its data and code.

Early warning on drift

You hear about falling accuracy before users do.

Automated retraining

Models refresh on a schedule or trigger, with checks.

Controlled compute cost

GPU and cloud spend right-sized and watched.

Governance and audit trail

Who trained what, on which data, and when.

DevOps and MLOps: what is the difference?

MLOps borrows from DevOps and adds what is special about data and models.

How we work

Five stages from assessment to steady operation

We build alongside your data science team, and nothing is forced on them.

  1. 1

    Assess

Look at how models are built and released today.

    What happens
    • Review notebooks, data and deployments
    • Find where results cannot be reproduced
    • List risks and quick wins
    You get
    • A short report
    • A ranked plan
    • A fixed-scope quote
    Your part

Walk us through your models and give read-only access.

    Safety net

We change nothing in this stage.

  2. 2

    Foundations

Put tracking, versioning and pipelines in place.

    What happens
    • Set up experiment tracking
    • Version data and models
    • Move code into pipelines
    You get
    • A model registry
    • Working pipelines
    • Documentation
    Your part

Review pull requests and try the pipeline.

    Safety net

    Built beside your current process.

  3. 3

    Deploy

Release a first model through the pipeline.

    What happens
    • Package and test the model
    • Serve it with rollback
    • Add logging
    You get
    • A live, versioned endpoint
    • A rollback plan
    • Runbooks
    Your part

    Approve the first release.

    Safety net

The old way stays available until you trust the new one.

  4. 4

    Monitor

    Watch quality, drift and cost.

    What happens
    • Dashboards and alerts
    • Compare predictions with outcomes
    • Set budgets
    You get
    • Live dashboards
    • Alerts with owners
    • A cost view
    Your part

    Agree thresholds and contacts.

    Safety net

Alerts are tuned to avoid noise.

  5. 5

    Automate and run

Retrain and improve without a project each time.

    What happens
    • Automate retraining
    • Compare new and live models
    • Review monthly
    You get
    • Scheduled retraining
    • A monthly report
    • A backlog of improvements
    Your part

Keep it yourselves, or keep us on monthly support.

    Safety net

Everything is in your repositories and accounts.

What can go wrong

Six MLOps risks, and how we prevent them

Most ML platforms fail on adoption, not technology.

Tools nobody usesStart from your team's workflow and add only what removes a real pain.
A model released that is worse than the lastCompare against the live model and release only if it is better.
Silent driftMonitoring on inputs and outputs, with alerts to named owners.

Every release has a way back, and nothing reaches production without a check.

FAQ

MLOps services: common questions

Something else on your mind? Ask us directly.

Ask a question
What is MLOps?

A way of building, releasing and running machine learning with the habits of DevOps: automated pipelines, versioning, testing, deployment and monitoring, plus what is special about data and models.

Why do we need MLOps?

Because a model that works in a notebook does not survive production by itself. Data changes, models drift and manual releases break. MLOps keeps models working and reproducible.

How is MLOps different from DevOps?

DevOps releases code. MLOps releases code, data and a trained model, and has to watch for the model's accuracy falling over time.

What is model drift?

The slow loss of accuracy that happens when real-world data moves away from the data the model was trained on. Monitoring catches it early.

Which clouds and tools do you use?

AWS SageMaker, Azure ML and Google Vertex AI, or open-source tools such as MLflow, Airflow and Kubeflow. We choose what fits your team.

Can you work with our data science team?

Yes. We build around their workflow and train them on the pipelines.

Can you take over models built by another team?

Yes. We start with an assessment, then move them into pipelines step by step.

Do we need Kubernetes?

Not always. Managed serving or simple containers are often enough to start.

How do you control GPU costs?

By right-sizing, scheduling and sharing capacity, and setting budgets and alerts.

Who owns the pipelines?

You do. They live in your repositories and accounts, with documentation.
